Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT, HKEx: 4338) is the leader of the world PC software development, which was established by Bill Gates and Paul Allen. It ranked the third one in the brand billboard. And it also listed on the world Brand 500 edited by World Brand Lab and ranked 22 in the World Respectable 100 in 2006. In 2008, Microsoft was the thirty-eighth world large company in Fortune magazine.

Since 1992 when Microsoft established a branch office in Beijing, the number of employees have increased to 900, and then set up branches in Shanghai and Guangzhou. Microsoft has experienced three development phases in China.

The first phase was from 1992 to 1995, and the main task of this phase was to explore its market and sales channel.

The second phase was from 1995 to 1999. And during this time, Microsoft has established Microsoft China Research and Development Lab, Microsoft Global Technology Support Center, Microsoft Research Asia, and also the product development and technology support service institution in succession. Therefore, Microsoft China became the most complete branch of Microsoft except its headquarter in America.

And the third phase is from 2000 until now. Microsoft China aims to progress and develop with China’s software industry, and also it will expand the investment and cooperation with China’s software industry.

In Nov. 5^th, 1998, Microsoft put a huge investment to establish Microsoft China Research Lab in Beijing, and then it was upgraded to be Microsoft Research Asia. It was the second fundamental scientific institution that Microsoft invested abroad.

Microsoft China Technology Center, which was set up in Sept. 2003, is a pioneering work made by the cooperation between Microsoft’s new technology and the local info-industry.

Microsoft Asia-Pacific Global Technology Support Center was established in August, 2007, and its original organization was the former Microsoft China and Asia-Pacific Global Technology Support Center
