China Chongqing International Investment and Global Sourcing Fair, which is hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of P.R.C, Three Gorges Project Construction Office of the State Council, Chongqing Municipal Peoples Government, Municipal Gvoernment of West and some East China provinces and cities, will be held in Chongqing International Convention and Exhibition Center from May 13 ^th to May 16 ^th 2009. In accordance with the spirit of Chongqing economic work conference, this fair is the main economic and trade activity and the window opening to the outside world in the first half year. The 12^th CCISF not only includs the good activities of the previous sessions, but also absorbs the relative activities of Ten Economic and Trade Activities which successfully experienced by Chongqing municipal government last year. Because the preparatory work started early, the central government focuses on the upgradeing of Chongqing’s strategic positioning and business around the world are concerning about the 12^th CCISF, it is foreseeable that the size and level of 12^th CCISF will hit a new record.

After years of establishing, the percentage of outside exhibitors of CCISF is continuously increaseing and the level of internationalization is continuously upgrading. Especially the theme “import promotion” was added into the last fair, the quality and quantity of multinational corporations improved substantially. Leaders of the Ministry of Commerce P.R.C visited the exhibition and gave a high evaluation that the scale of international investors and buyers were comparatively high than other same level exhibitions. Besides, the fair was affirmed by the participants from all over the world. To meet the require of business inside and outside, the name of the fair is changed to China Chongqing International Investment and Global Sourcing Fair this year. Furthermore, CCISF will be held annually from now on.

In 2008, Ten Economic and Trade Activities which is jointly set up by the Ministry of Commerce P.R.C and other relevant state departments gained a great success. The 12^th CCISF absorbs part of Ten Economic and Trade Activities, thus it will have rich activities and effective content. The entire fair includes two theme exhibiton of international investment and global sourcing, ten thematic activities of Investment Negotiation, Global Sourcing Negotiation, Global Sourcing and International Logistics Development Forum, International Opto-electrical and Cross-Straits Opto-electrical Cooperation Forum, Processing Trade and Industry Transfer Negotiation Conference, Transnational Merge and Acquisition Cooperation Negotiation Conference, Software and Service Outsourcing Negotiation Conference, Invironmental Protection Industry Negotiation Conference, Foreign Projects Contract and Labor Service Cooperation Negotiation Coference and Private Financing Capital Forum and Project Negotiation Conference. Besides, supporting activites of Opening Ceremony, Contract signing, Welcome Banquet, Leadership meeting, Press Conference, Complementary Meeting of fraternal provinces and municipalities and Chongqing districts and counties will be held during exhibiton.

Preparation work of CCISF was started by October last year. Organizing committee layout works several times and set up 9 preparatory working teams. Up to now, organizing committee has sent invitations to inside and outside more than 80,000 letters, 200,000 mails, 500,000 times telephone calls. Organizing committee also promoted CCISF in domestic large-scale events as "Canton Fair", "Western China International Economy and Trade Fair", "China International Auto Parts Expo”, “Shanghai International Equipment Industry Exhibition”, “China-Asean Expo”and overseas internaitonal exhibitions as “Shipbuilding, machinery and marine Technolgoy International Trade Fair”, “Macao International Trade and Investment Fair”, “World SME Expo”, and send delegations to Taiwan, Japan, Korea and other friendly countries for face-to-face invitation. The invitaion sent to those countries reached 20,000 copies. In the beginning of this year, Preparatory Meeting for Brother Provinces and Cities Participation and Preparatory Meeting for Chongqing Districts and Counties of the 12^th CCISF has been held and achieved satisfactory results.

Affected by the global financial crisis, various exhibitions, particularly demonstic exhibitons have been affected seriously since the second half of last year. CCISF is not exceptional. However, because of the preparatory work to start earlier, the organizing commitee analysis of the situation more thoroughly and of its own advantages deeply, and extensive use for many years cooperative relations and channels, the 60 percent of exhibtion area has been ordered right now, more than expected. Multinational corporations as Ford, SUZUKI, HP, Ericsson, Pepsi, Softmcro, Software, IBM, Honeywell, GE, Carbone Lorraine, brother provinces and cities delegation as Shanghai, Tianjin, Zhejiang, Liaoning, Guangdong, Shandong, Sichuan, Guangxi, Xinjiang, Dalian, Shenzhen, Xiamen, as well as over 1000 domestic enterprises have already registrated to exhibite in the 12^th CCISF.

After preparatory work of the 12^th CCISF start, the propaganda work also immediately follows up. Up to present, CCISF websit in both Chinese and English and 10 thematic sub-sites have been built up. At the same tiem, this fair has set up link with a number of portals and influential professional sites. In the website of Ministry of Commerce of P.R.C, a hot topic CCISF column is opened. In Chongqing major media of Chongqing Daily, Chongqing Morning News, Chongqing Evening News, Chongqing Economic Times, Chongqing Television, CCISF coverage is launched. According to the key industries of current CCISF, organizing committee put ads in more than 10 kinds of professional journal. In next step, the fair will start propaganda and reporting in the China Central Television, International Business Daily, outdoor media, co-sponsored brother provinces and municipalities in the local media. The steady progress of propaganda is on schedule.
