The 12th China (Chongqing) International Investment and Global Sourcing Fair Successfully Closed
The 12th China (Chongqing) International Investment and Global Sourcing Fair, which is hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of P.R.C, State Council Three Gorges Project Construction Committee Executive Office, Chongqing Municipal Peoples Government, Municipal Government of West and some East China provinces and cities has been successfully held in Chongqing International Convention and Exhibition Center from May 13th to May 16th 2009. The CCISF is an important trade and economic activity which is held in the key moment when the global financial crisis continued to impact on the world economy. Chinas economy is in response to the international financial crisis and maintains stable and rapid development.
The fair function role is more and more prominent. Over 380 multinational corporations from the United States, Britain, Germany, Italy, Russia, India, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and other 40 countries and areas, 890 large-scale domestic enterprises and more than 6000 small-and-medium-sized enterprise participants had enjoyed this activity. The visitors had reached 30 million. In this fair, 349 investment projects of 150 billion were signed. Buyers both at home and abroad supplied 7.5 billion purchasing list. After negotiation on spot, 853 pairs cooperation intention had reached amount of 481 million U.S. dollars.
Meanwhile, over 20 seminars, promotion conferences and docking activities were held during the event. Its size, grade and effectiveness had reached a high record, becoming a leading domestic large-scale international exhibition in West China. The fair has been highly appreciated and well accepted by the Ministry of Commerce, various national authorities and participants.
Member of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee Bo Xilai, Vice-chairman of NPC Standing Committee Chen Changzhi, deputy chairman of CPPCC Li Jinhua have given full recognition and encouragement of CCISF.
Recently, in the China’s most influential government-led Exhibition Award Selection which is hosted by Chinese exhibition industry, CCISF stands out from hundreds of government-led exhibitions and get top ten Chinese brands Golden Tripod Award.

II. Project Investment Increased under Financial Crisis
This CCISF had 349 investment projects signed contract, which increased 32.20 than the previous year, and the contracted amount reached 145.328 billion yuan, increased 35.77 over the previous.
III．Global Souring: demand contraction is still not reduce the enthusiasm of buyers
This CCISF established Global Sourcing Exhibition and special docking negotiation hall, in which 2735 companies entered to take face-to-face meeting and reached 853 pairs of cooperation intention with a total of 481 million U.S. dollars. For example, Chongqing Qinniu Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. signed supply agreement with companies form the Middle East, Africa, Argentina, Russia and other regions; China-British Investment Consultation Limited Company purchased one million US dollar LED products; Chongqing Guhua Animal By-Products Co., Ltd. signed a 20 million U.S. dollars year bristle products purchasing agreement with Dchang Huajia Business (China) Co., Ltd.; Shandong Northern Futian Co., Ltd. signed a 900 million U.S. dollars distribution agreement with Chongqing Automobile Trading Company; Lifan Group signed a number of vehicles orders with the Africa, South America buyers.
Ⅳ. Regional Cooperation More Active
In this CCISF, there were 25 brothers provinces as Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangdong, Shandong, Zhejiang, Anhui, Shanxi, Hainan, Shanxi, Tibet, Liaoning, Guangxi, Jilin, Hunan, Jiangsu, Sichuan, Guizhou, , Qinghai, Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Dalian, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Xinjiang and Hong Kong, Macao Special Administrative Region participated in, which made it the largest number of provinces and cities in the history of CCISF.
Shanghai delegation’s exhibition area was more than 600 square kilometers, and Shanghai Hongkou ? Chongqing Jiangbei Trade and Economic Cooperation Promotion Conference were held during this fair.
Shanxi delegation’s exhibition area was more than 400 square kilometers. This delegation had to more than 800 representatives to Chongqing. In its recommendation conference on key projects, Shanxi Province introduced a total of 27 key projects, involving an investment of 188.2 billion yuan.
Anhui organized a large-scale delegation participating in this CCIGSF, including more than 100 enterprises of province’s characteristics industry, famous boutique, The Three Gorges reservoir area counterpart assistance projects. Anhui and Chongqing Yubei District carried out investment promotion activity jointly to attract domestic and foreign industry and capital transfer.
Zhejiang delegation organized over 130 key enterprise participants, looking for business opportunities. Zhejiang delegation exhibition area was more than 450 square meters. At the same time, they visited Fuling District to give support and investigate Zhejiang Industrial Park for project docking, which had achieved good results.
Shandong delegation organized more than 300 participants. In CCISF, the whole delegation signed contracts amounted to 5 billion. They also organized key enterprises to support Chongqing Zhong County. Shandong delegation supported the Zhong County 10 million yuan for public facilities, social welfare undertakings of local industrial parks.
On Sichuan Key Industries Investment Projects Promotion Conference, Sichuan thrown 546 key industries protests, of which 37 projects were signed in the site. The total investment amounted to 6.21 billion yuan and all investors were Chongqing enterprises.
Dalian delegation docked with Chongqing Bonded Port, software and service outsourcing, high technology and tourism industries. Guangdong delegation focused on the processing trade and industry transfer, and promoted the Sixth China International SMEs Exposition in this CCISF. Tianjin delegation thrown 55 catering projects to attract Chongqing enterprises. Shandong and Tibet delegation also organized a counterpart docking and business investment activities. Shenzheng and Xiamen delegation used the CCIGSF platform to expand their inland market.
Ⅴ. Thematic Activities Takes More Actual Effect
In this CCISF, there were dozens of thematic activities and dissemination activities. Their effect was quite obvious.
Global Sourcing and International Logistics Development Forum -- attracted a large number of influential multinational giants to participate in, the city government department heads, business representatives for a total of 500 people attended the forum, venue overflowed. Hewlett-Packard Co., Vice President Mr. Zhang Yongli, France Carbone Lorraine Group, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer Claude Cocozza, TNT North Asia Managing Director Mike Derek, IBM Greater China Group Customer Division Vice President and General Manager of China, Mr. He Guowei, and the Executive Director of Hutchison Whampoa and other speakers made wonderful speeches focusing on global sourcing, international trade, supply chain management and promotion of the development of logistics industry upgrading and conducted exchanges with the participants.
International Opto-electrical and Cross-Straits Opto-electrical Cooperation Forum –- under the oversea supporting unit -- Taiwan Electric and Electronic Manufacturers Association, chairman of the Electric and Electronic Manufacturers Association Winbond Electronics Mr. Jiao Youjun lead a group of 80 enterprises as Taiwan Lite-On Technology, Formosa Epitaxy, Epistar attended the forum.
China Chongqing Cultural Creative Industry Projects Promotion Conference -- in the activities 66 industrial projects were launched; over 20 projects were showed on-site road; 10 industrial projects were signed in the promotive meeting; the total amount of contract reached 4.607 billion yuan.
After contract signing, the organizer arranged more than 20 film and television projects principals to do project promotion, and these projects attracted broad interest of 80 present domestic and foreign investment merchant, investment funds in cultural industries sector. Representatives in the present indicated that this conference gave them an excellent platform to seek partners and financing.
Processing Trade and Industry Transfer Conference -- More than 90 companies from the east coast as Shanghai, Zhejiang, Ningbo, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Huizhou, Foshan attended the conference and signed 13 projects which total amount reached 2 billion yuan. For the preferential policies of State Council No. 3 document and policies of the bonded port area, some enterprises wished to visite Chongqing for co-operation. All of they felt this was a very worthwhile trip.
Private Financing Capital Projects Promotion and Negotiation Conference -- Meeting was attended by the United States Etech Securities, Bain Capital, Goldman Sachs Asia, CITIC Capital, Ping An Trust, PricewaterhouseCoopers, KPMG, Risperdal capital, Shanghai Yong Xuan, Jun He Law Offices, Shanghai the Great Wall Investment and other 10 well-known domestic and foreign private equity investment institutions, investment banks, accounting firms, law firms, as well as nearly 80 outstanding high-growth companies which had financing needs from Chongqing.
In the conference, speakers made on the theme of private equity investments with their own reality and introduced the private equity investment fund industry trends and related investment philosophy under the current economic situation. The compelling content won praise from participants.
Environmental Protection Industry International Cooperation Promotion and Negotiation Conference -- The conference attracted 43 cross-border environmental protection enterprises and more than 50 Chongqing local enterprises, including General Electric, Honeywell, Siemens, Itochu and other eight of the worlds top 500 enterprises. The conference emphasizes on “air pollution control, watershed management and sewage treatment”, released 44 cooperative projects and carried out nearly 50 “one-on-one” docking meeting.
Forum and Matchmaking Symposium on International Contracting and Labor Service Cooperation -- 12 Central project contracting and labor service export enterprises, more than 50 Contract engineering firms and labor assignment enterprises, and 44 district and county expatriate labor service centers and employment bureaus attended this forum. It is focus on contracted projects and labor export difficulties and countermeasure under the financial crisis, targeting at help enterprises to deal with the financial crisis, make strategic plan and risk management, develop international contracting market, carry out sustainable development.
Machinery Equipment Industry Key Investment Projects Promotion Conference -- It attracted a total 37 multinational companies, including General Electric, United Technologies, Alstom, Spainish Northern Electric, Fuji Electric, Robbins, and more than 40 key equipment manufacturing enterprises in Chongqing. Chongqing Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Commission launched 51 cooperative projects, reached a preliminary cooperation intention with a number of international and domestic famous enterprises, which including several Fortune 500 companies. 19 projects with an amount of over 4 billion yuan in the field of clean energy, rail transportation, large-scale engineering machinery, energy-saving emission reduction devices, infrastructure equipment had been achieved cooperation intention. After the implementation, the new industrial output will reach more than 10 billion.
2009 Automobile Industry Investment Promotion Conference -- It aimed to help companies and investors know more about Chongqing and Chongqing’s auto industry by regional cooperation. In the conference, 8 projects signed contract with a total investment of 1.17 billion yuan
“Chongqing-Chinese Inland Open Economic Height” Promotion Conference -- It aimed at promoting Chinas Inland Open Economy Height-Chongqing. Its overall planning of “Chongqing Liangjiang New Developed Area” was up to about 1,000 square kilometers. In the future, relying on the northern New Area and the bonded port area, “Chongqing Liangjiang New Developed Area” would keep pace with Shanghai Pudong New Area and Tianjin Binhai New Area.
2009 Chongqing ? International Bridge and Metropolitan Forum -- More than 400 leaders of national ministries and bridge academicians, experts, academics, engineers and scholars at all levels from home and abroad discussed the exchange of bridge construction and urban development, present and future bridge construction in Chongqing. It played an active role for Chongqing to build the bridge brand, enhance the Chongqing image and promote the economic development.
Chinese Merchants Investment Chongqing Conference -- Organized by Shanghai Chinese Overseas News and the municipal government office in East China, 31 influential overseas Chinese merchants visited Chongqing to seek cooperation. Some entrepreneurs had contact the districts and counties in the early time for cooperative development in this zone because Chongqing was in Western Center and the state strongly provided great support for Chongqing in preferential policies.
Talents Hunging Fair—Over 600 enterprises provided ten thousand admission employment and half of enterprises recruited graduating student and also attracted numerous doctors, masters. After the two-way job choice, nearly 3000 job seekers reached employment intention with enterprise.
Ⅵ. Propaganda dynamics creates new high
Before the fair, organizing committee issued 1 monthly advertisement in CCTV-2, CCTV-4 and CQTV, and broadcasted CCISF video in Air China. CQTV broadcasted special coverage of CCISF for ten times and International Business Daily put in full page propaganda. For newspapers, Chongqing Morning Paper, Chognqing Daily Paper and other mainstream newspapers had continually reported this fair. Organizing Committee also made DVD propaganda compact disc and constructed its topic website and 10 stature websites. The entrance hall, channel, and baggage receiving hall of Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, main roads to airport, vital transport hub, bridge, exhibition hall surrounding area and buses of main route had put in much outdoor advertising. Furthermore, organizing committee visited international expositions both at home and aboard like China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair), China International Fair for Investment and Trade, China-ASEAN Expo, Western China Fair, CIIF Expo, CIAPExpo, SMM, MIF, World SME Expo to promote CCISF.
